Career, Technical & Agricultural Education Pathways
Baldwin County Schools’ Career, Technical & Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways give students the opportunity to connect what they learn in the classroom with real-world skills, experiences, and career possibilities. From healthcare, computer science, and digital media to skilled trades, agriculture, culinary arts, education, and more, students can explore their interests while building practical skills that prepare them for college, advanced training, the military, or the workforce.
Our pathways are designed to help students discover what they do well, learn from hands-on experiences, and begin building a plan for life beyond high school. Plant & Landscape Systems
Introduces students to the science, production, management, and use of plants in agricultural and landscape settings. Students develop hands-on skills in plant identification, propagation, soil management, greenhouse production, landscaping, and the safe and effective use of tools and equipment. The pathway prepares students for further education and careers in horticulture, landscaping, nursery production, greenhouse management, and related agricultural fields.
Carpentry and Electrical
Provides students with foundational skills in residential construction, carpentry, and electrical systems. Students gain hands-on experience with construction materials, hand and power tools, framing, basic wiring, electrical safety, and industry-standard construction practices. The pathway prepares students for further education, apprenticeships, and careers in construction, carpentry, electrical work, and related skilled trades.
Computer Science
Introduces students to programming, computational thinking, problem-solving, and software development. Students develop hands-on skills in coding, algorithms, data structures, and application or game development while learning to use technology to create solutions to real-world problems. The pathway prepares students for further education and careers in computer science, software development, information technology, and other technology-related fields.
Audio Video Technology & Film
Prepares students to create, produce, and distribute digital media using industry-standard equipment and software. Students develop hands-on skills in video production, audio recording, photography, lighting, editing, graphic design, and storytelling. The pathway prepares students for further education and careers in film and television production, broadcasting, digital media, journalism, marketing, and other creative technology fields.
Cosmetology
Prepares students for careers in the beauty and personal care industry through hands-on training in hair care, styling, skincare, nail care, sanitation, and client services. Students develop technical skills, professionalism, safety practices, and an understanding of salon operations while working toward the knowledge and skills required for industry licensure. The pathway prepares students for further education and careers as cosmetologists, hairstylists, salon professionals, and related beauty and wellness occupations.
Early Childhood Education and Teaching as a Profession
Prepares students for careers working with young children and supporting their educational development. Students explore child development, learning environments, curriculum planning, classroom management, health and safety, and age-appropriate instructional practices. The pathway provides hands-on opportunities to develop teaching skills and prepares students for further education and careers in early childhood education, teaching, childcare, and related human services fields.
Navy Junior ROTC
Navy Junior ROTC allows students to build leadership, discipline, confidence, and teamwork while learning about the Navy and maritime traditions. Students participate in exciting hands-on activities, physical fitness, community service, drill, and leadership experiences. Whether you dream of a military career or simply want to become a stronger leader, NJROTC helps you develop skills that will prepare you for success in high school, college, and beyond!
Unmanned Flight (Drones)
Unmanned Flight Systems (Drones) puts students in the pilot’s seat as they explore the exciting world of drones and the technology behind them. Students will gain hands-on flight experience, learn how drones are used in agriculture, public safety, business, and other growing careers, and have the opportunity to earn their recreational drone license and the FFA Remote Pilot Certification. If you’re interested in technology, aviation, or taking your skills to new heights, this pathway is ready for takeoff!
Marketing Management
Marketing Management puts students at the center of the fast-paced world of business, branding, advertising, and sales. Students will learn how to create exciting marketing campaigns, promote products and services, connect with customers, and use social media and digital tools to make an impact. Whether you dream of becoming an entrepreneur, social media expert, salesperson, or business leader, this pathway helps turn your ideas into opportunities!
Non-Invasive Technology in Healthcare
Non-Invasive Technology in Healthcare gives students a hands-on look at the technology used to help diagnose, monitor, and care for patients without surgery. Students will explore medical equipment, diagnostic procedures, and the latest technologies used by healthcare professionals, with the opportunity to earn an EKG Technology Certification. If you’re interested in science, technology, and making a difference in people’s lives, this pathway can put you on the road to an exciting healthcare career!
Sports Medicine
Sports Medicine puts students on the front lines of athletic health and wellness, exploring how the human body moves, performs, and recovers. Students will gain hands-on experience with injury prevention, fitness, rehabilitation, and sports-related healthcare while learning skills used by athletic trainers and other healthcare professionals. Culinary Arts
